What sizes are available for book publishing?
Currently we offer letter (8.5” x 11”), novel (6” x 9”), and pocket (4.25” x 6.875”).
What bindery options do you offer for book publishing?
We offer perfect bindery (the interior is glued to the cover’s spine), coil (hole are drilled on the left side of the page and plastic coil is threaded through), and saddlestitching (staples stitched along the spine of the book).
How does it work if I want to sell my book through MediaLinx?
Here is how it works…You start our online book creator and begin the process of creating your book. You get to set your profit from the sale of your book, and we automatically generate a retail price based on the profit you want from the sale. MediaLinx Self-Publishing takes a 20% commission on every book we sell. The commission fee is built into the retail price of your book.
Where and when do I get my books?
You can either have the books shipped to an address, or come and pick them up from our downtown location or Vaughan location. You can expect your books in 3-5 business days, depending on the quantity you order.
What about an ISBN number?
We let you choose if you want an ISBN number or if you don’t. Getting an ISBN makes your book look more professional, and also registers it in a large Books In Print database. If you plan on selling your book through MediaLinx, you probably don’t need an ISBN, but if you want to sell through other online resellers and book stores (Like Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Chapters), an ISBN is definitely required. For more info on ISBN’s go to http://www.collectionscanada.gc.ca/isn/index-e.html.
Do you provide proofreading or editing services?
No we do not. We ask that all manuscripts be free of errors and ready for print.
How do you help sell my book?
We will list your book in our online store, as well as in our physical store at 425 University Ave. We will also promote your book by giving you a 30 second advertisement on our Street Screen Program.
What is the Street Screen Program?
The street screen program is a rolling advertisement on our 27” LCD screen in our front window. Our store is in a very busy part of downtown Toronto, with lots of people walking by during regular business hours. We will showcase your book in our windows, and give your book a 30 second video advertisement on our screen, which is strategically placed in the centre window. Lots of people stop to watch our screen, and will see your books advertisement.
